Swimathon 2020 · 27 March 2020 to 31 December 2020 ·

Cancer Research UK and Marie Curie are calling on the nation to get down to the pool for Swimathon 2020 - thousands of swimmers, two great causes, one big charity challenge.

Story

On the 28th March, I'm swimming 100 lengths (2km) to help raise funds for Cancer Research and Marie Curie, two charities that help those affected by cancer.

The following day, 29th March would have been my mum's 90th birthday.  We lost her to bladder cancer in September 2007, a week after her diagnosis.  At the time, there was not the awareness of the condition and her symptoms were explained away by various other causes.  Unfortunately, bladder cancer is hard to detect in the early stages and it's not until stage 3 or 4 that it reveals itself, but by this stage, there is little  that can be done.

I have lost so many family and friends to cancer that I want to do a small thing to raise money to help support these 2 worthwhile charities.  Please give as much as you can, every penny is precious to these charities and they soon add up.
