Claire's first Marathon · 10 April 2021

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Marathon madness!

A year ago I decided with a friend to run a half marathon every month. In September we upped the mileage..which sowed the seed...was the big one possible we asked ourselves?? Last weekend I ran my first long run, managing 22 miles, ok, it wasnt speedy, but I did it. The date was set, yes, I'm running my first (and possibly last) marathon!
On April 10th I'll be pulling on my trainers and packing lots of snacks to run 26.2 miles to West Bay on the stunning Jurassic Coast. If Government restrictions get in the way I've got a back up date in May. I will be setting myself up to run and raise some pennies for a great cause, Alzheimers UK, to help support people and their families affected by dementia, so please keep a look out for a link to my sponsorship page. Wish me luck!

Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever.Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
