Climate chaos is one of the greatest injustices we face. Together we can STOP this climate crisis.

Story

Christian Aid was set up in UK over 75 years ago to provide disaster relief, eradicate poverty and support ongoing development in South America, Africa and Asia.   Each year the charity holds Christian Aid week in May to raise money.                                                This year’s appeal ‘Every Last Drop’ focuses on the global climate crisis and in particular on those in the poorest countries lacking a reliable and safe source of water, such like Rose in Kenya who walks 6 hours each day to collect water. Global climate  chaos has led to temperature rises and erratic weather with drought and  flooding causing crop failure and death of livestock, forcing millions into poverty, hunger and homelessness. The absence of sanitation not only causes many illnesses but the inability to wash hands removes an important defence against coronavirus. The  villagers in rural areas must make long and often hazardous walks to collect buckets of water for their families, leaving them little time to tend their crops, feed livestock and care for their children.                            Christian Aid is helping communities to build earth dams and rock catchments near their homes to harness the rainfall, providing the necessary tools and cement.  Installation of taps will make accessing water much easier while building toilet blocks and giving hygiene packs will improve villagers health and help protect them from COVID-19. Farmers are also being taught how to grow drought resistant crops.

Our fundraising will raise money towards these projects and we hope to raise enough to build an earth dam.  Please support my fundraiser this Christian Aid Week and help to provide a reliable water source for people like Rose. Your gift will help support Christian Aid's vital work with some of the poorest communities in the world. Thank you!
