My Story
Why am I running the London Marathon? A question I keep asking myself! lol
2026 will host a big milestone for me: believe it or not, I am turning 50! And competing in the London Marathon, has been a lifelong dream. Following in my dad’s footsteps! As many of you know my dad ran many marathons, first one in 1984 completing 18 in total running the London marathon 10 times! I want to raise as much money as I can for this charity which is very close to my heart.
There is another compelling motivation driving me. My eldest brother, Paul, was diagnosed with Leukaemia as a young child. Whilst he, and my parents, battled hard and fearlessly to fight it, unfortunately it cruelly took him from us by the time he was almost 9 years old.
Deciding upon which charity to run and help raise money, for, was therefore an easy decision for me to make.
I have joined #TEAMLC to run the London Marathon 2026. Please help me to support everyone affected by a blood cancer diagnosis in the UK. Leukaemia Care is a national charity dedicated to ensuring that anyone affected by blood cancer receives the right information, advice and support. Around 34,000 people are affected by blood cancer each year in the UK and we're here to support them through their diagnosis, treatment and beyond.
So why AM I running the London Marathon? I am running for my family. And for everyone having to face the fight against Leukaemia.
I just want to say thank you for all your help and support.
Love Claire xx
