Jenny wants to raise as much money as possible for the Tearfund Yemen appeal which helps children and families whose lives have been torn apart by the conflict there. To do this she will be running one half marathon a month throughout 2020. 

Towards the end of last year, I set upon my own challenge of running a half marathon which was the Brighton Half in February. I started my training and grew a love for the challenge of running a little bit further each week.

Jenny told me about her challenge and I was roped in to run her first monthly run with her as "part of my own training". I was pretty sure running 13.1 miles before the Brighton Half was not part of the training, but it was for a good cause and everyone appreciates some support.

We took to the cold and icy roads and we completed it! I then went on to run the Brighton Half in February in the brutal gale force winds along the seafront in 1 hr 50 which I was so pleased with. That was that, box ticked. Or so I thought.

Sadly in March and April, Covid-19 descended on us, making any long distance running more difficult. I kept up running where I could given I'd worked so hard to get to where I did. Then in May, we were able to run at a social distance and so I picked up my trusted old trainers and gave Jenny the support once more. 

Goodness knows how this happened, but one thing led to another and I've joined her ever since! 

This has been a real challenge for us both. 2020 has been a difficult year but I can't even comprehend how much harder it is for families who don't even have a roof over their head or fresh food, water or clothes.

We have continued with our training, making compromises with family and work to get the running in so that we can complete the challenge to raise money for this wonderful cause.
