Claires Court is supporting ‘Charity Pearl The Gambia’ in its efforts to make substantial improvements to day to day life in the Brufut area of The Gambia.

Charity Pearl The Gambia is an organisation that has been helping families and children from a disadvantaged background in the Brufut area of The Gambia since 2012. The Gambia is an impoverished country where many parents are illiterate so the education of their children is essential to empower them to gain skills to earn a living and help support their families. 

Claires Court has already helped fund the building of the Kids are the World Education Centre, along with the digging of a borehole and well to provide clean water to the community in Brufut. As a school we are now looking to contribute further to help fund the building costs of an additional classroom in the Education Centre, with a view to this becoming the centre’s first computer lab.

This month fifteen Claires Court Sixth Form students will be visiting the Pearl Education centre, where they will see how their fundraising efforts have helped the local community. Students will spend time working in the Education Centre running activities for the local children.
