Three Peaks Challenge for Grace-Louise

Grace Louise Darroch · 11 March 2024 to 12 March 2024 ·
When I signed up to complete the three day challenge of summiting the highest mountains in England (Scafell Pike), Wales (Snowdon/Yr Wyddfa) and Scotland (Ben Nevis), I knew I wanted to fundraise for a cause close to my heart. I have a few charities whom I support regularly, but when I spoke with my colleague, Alex Darroch, about his daughter, I knew that I wanted to support Tree of Hope.
Grace-Louise just turned four this month. As a young baby, she was diagnosed with a rare genetic condition called CDKL5 Deficiency, which causes her to suffer from multiple seizures a day, and she has what is known as 'Global Developmental Delay'. Grace-Louise has world-leading neurology specialists on her medical team, and she is doing amazingly with her treatment. Alex and his wife Leanne are so grateful to the NHS, but in the knowledge that they unfortunately lack the specialist therapies, equipment and support services that their daughter needs. Specialist therapies like 'Spider Therapy' which could help Grace-Louise gain some much needed independence in walking freely. The cost of this therapy is approximately £3000 per week.
Simply put, Tree of Hope support families that need to raise funds for specialist treatment and equipment, by managing the funds and the vendors and suppliers of anything the family may need to use those funds for. They are a wonderful charity who will be there for Alex and Leanne throughout Grace-Louise's life. Please visit their website for more information - as they explain the work they do far better than I could ever try to.
So please help me to support them by donating what you can. I embark on my challenge on May 31st, starting with Snowdon, followed by Scafell Pike on June 1st, and then finish on Ben Nevis on June 2nd - what a way to celebrate my 45th birthday!
And as if this isn't challenge enough, I also decided to sign up to a couple of training walks - the Glasgow Kiltwalk on 28th April and the Yorkshire Three Peaks on Monday 6th May.
