Clampy's hot sauce

Chris Clamp is raising money for Alzheimer's Society

Making Clampy's hot sauce · 25 June 2017

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

In 2008/9 I was on a boat that had bags of chillis that we could not take (fresh) into the next port. I decided to make some sauce out of them which would be allowed through customs, and Clampy's was born.

The sauce was a big hit with the crew, so over the next few years I tried varying ingredients to get it exactly how it is now. Some suggested hotter, less hot, different cooking etc, but having listened a
and tried them, we are now back to how it was. It is, after all CLAMPY'S so made how I like it, and if you like that too - Great.

About the same time as the creation, my father was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Since then, my mother has  also been diagnosed with what is termed 'Mixed Dementia' , so rather than giving Clampy's away, I decided it would be a nice idea if a donation was made.

So, you are not actually buying it, you are getting a free sample and then making donation to a worthy cause. The funds generated are split between Alzheimer's and Cancer research, and everything donated goes to the cause, over £2000 to date

This Just Giving site is to give a recognition to those that have contributed the fund raising, and a way that all who enjoy it can see that it is hopefully making some small difference.

Cheers (and don't rub your eye)
