Story
Tour de France is coming to Yorkshire! What better way to celebrate this by riding the two stages to raise money for a local charity - the children's hospital. We are riding with around 30 other members of Sheffrec Cycling Club and hoping that we can raise a significant amount together.
This ride is a physical challenge for both of us, but mentally we will face different issues. For Clara, the biggest test will come from being the only woman taking part. Not only will she have to battle all the hills without the help of the high testostorone levels the other riders are blessed with (it's a blessing in this case at least), but she will also have to cope with a weekend of non-stop male banter. This will result in John's challenge, namely dealing with Clara when her blood suger levels are low. That can be more of a challenge than one migt think.
More to the point though, we will ride 390 kilometres over two days. There will be big hills to climb, with the possibility of some nice English weather making it a slippery experience.
As a warm-up, we will be riding the Strines Challenge two weeks before. This is a route of just over 50 miles with over 8000 feet of climbing - possible the hardest 50 miles in the UK.
Any donations would be such a great encouragment when climbing all these hills. For every donation we will also give you a unique "pain face" photo of us going up a hill, which normally can provide some amusment.
