Around The World For Mito · 22 September 2018 ·

The circumference of the World is 24,901 miles or 40,075 Km and we want you to clock up those miles through cycling, walking or running to hit our target in September for awareness week.

Story

Greg and I have signed up to support The Lily Foundations ‘Around the world for Mito’ challenge.  We have set ourselves a challenge to run 1000km between us from May until Sept when it’s Mito awareness week.

We have been inspired to take up this challenge in memory of our friends beautiful little boy, Aiden. Aiden was diagnosed with Mitochondrial disease at just one years old. Tragically there are currently no cures or treatments for this terrible disease and sadly Aiden passed away aged just 19 months old.

We hope by doing this we will help raise awareness of Mitochondrial Disease and to raise funds for The Lily Foundation. This is a fantastic charity who fund research into finding a cure for this disease and provide support to those affected.

To complete this challenge we will have to do many local runs each week and we will include some official races too. Some together and some solo and some tag team style while looking after our girls. The challenge also covers half term and the summer holidays when we will be away so we will still need to keep running on our hols! We will keep updating this page with our progress throughout the challenge, so feel free to check up on how we are doing! 😀🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

If you can spare a few pennies and would like to support this wonderful Charity we would be very grateful for your sponsorship.

So I guess it’s time to lace up those trainers and get out there and clock up those miles. Wish us luck!

There is no cure for this disease which is for many, debilitating and life limiting. Please stand with us and fight Mitochondrial Disease and fight for hope.
