We have no idea why anyone gets bile duct cancer (cholangiocarcinoma) or what the risk factors for it are and only 5% of those diagnosed will be alive 12 months later.  Nikki died 5 months after being diagnosed.  There is only one charity (AMMF) for bile duct cancer  and research is badly needed to give us some indication of who might get this cancer and who needs to be screened as this could lead to earlier diagnosis and better survival rates.
