Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I’ll never forget the words said to my sister and I from the consultant at Durham Hospital in December 2016 “your dad doesn’t have long to live, would you like him to remain in hospital or transfer him to a hospice?” Neither of us could comprehend this news, we had only lost Mam 12 weeks earlier and were now faced with this excruciating decision.  We didn’t really know why we chose a hospice, but ultimately it was the best decision we made.

St Teresa’s hospice was an oasis of tranquility. They treated dad with the greatest of dignity and provided him with the best possible care.  Not only did they look after dad, they went out of their way to ensure Lianne and I were both cared for physically and mentally, and continued offering us their support long after dad passed away.

So to say thanks to St Teresa’s I’m going to run the Great North Run on the 8 September 2019.  In doing so, I’m hoping to raise some money to support this exceptional charity.

And to say thanks to Mama and Papa, I’m going to dedicate this run to you both.  I’m pretty sure it’s going to cause me great pain, it’s going to bring me to tears and I have no doubt it will cause me to mutter one or two swear words, shake my head in despair and grow a few more grey hairs.  I’m pretty sure you both experienced that bringing up Lianne..... Love you really Lou Lou x

Wish me luck……I’m going to need it!
