Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I can't quite believe I am actually writing this but I have signed up to run the London Marathon on the 28th April 2019!! I will be running for the amazing Carers Trust and hope to raise lots of money to help support all the amazing work they do.

Firstly a bit about Carers Trust and why I am running for them. My grandmother was very passionate about supporting young carers and often asked me if I would run and raise money for them, I promised one day I would. When I applied for a place with Carers Trust a lady called Charis (grandmothers name and spelling!) emailed me...I took it as a sign!!

Carers Trust believes in a world where the role and contribution of unpaid carers is recognised and they have access to the quality support and services they need to live their own lives. For example many young carers can find it hard to go to school/college/university or keep up with course work. They can be bullied and find it difficult to make or keep friends. They can take on responsibilities well beyond their years and have little time for play or socialising or to be children or young people. Carers Trust is working with local schools to ensure young carers are getting the additional support they need. Below is a quote from a young person, this is just one example of their work which helps carers of all ages.

‘I look after my brother and it is tiring, but I try my best to look after him. I like that I get support from teachers. Since joining (school) I have really enjoyed being part of this group that meets at dinner time to talk about different things and it helps a lot.’

Secondly a little about me and the London Marathon - I remember a friend (Philly) training and completing the London marathon in 2013 and thinking wow she is amazing but there is no way I will ever ever be able to do that. Then last year I watched another amazing friend (Sophia) train hard and complete the distance and started to think can I do it.....??

As many of you reading this know, I love to run and to raise money, so I am asking for your support once again as this is the ultimate challenge for me. The London Marathon has always been my impossible goal and this is going to be a mentally and physically challenging task but if you don't try you won't succeed right, so now is my time to try! Anything you can spare would be greatly appreciated, knowing I have your support behind me as I tackle my greatest challenge yet, whilst running the streets of London will definitely keep me going!!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for your support, I will keep this page updated with how my 'gruelling' training plan is going - my motto for the next few months is - no train no gain!!

Clare xx
