Wimbledon Common Half Marathon · 5 April 2022

Refuge opened the world’s first refuge in West London in 1971. We support thousands of women & children every day, experiencing domestic and sexual violence, female genital mutilation, forced marriage, stalking, trafficking, prostitution & so-called ‘honour’ based violence.

Story

We are wombling our way around Wimbledon Common for 21.1 kilometres - all to raise funds for Refuge!

Refuge believes that no one should have to live in fear of violence and abuse, and any amount you can give will make a huge difference. Thank you!

  • £15 could provide an emergency pack for a woman arriving at a refuge. Many arrive with little more than the clothes they are wearing.
  • £25 could buy food supplies, toiletries and cleaning products to help a family stay safe and healthy.
  • £52 could provide a woman and her children a safe night's stay in a refuge.

One woman in four will experience domestic violence at some point in her lifetime and two women are killed each week in England and Wales by a current or former partner. Refuge supports over 7000 women & children on any given day, experiencing domestic & sexual abuse, female genital mutilation, forced marriage, stalking, trafficking, prostitution & so-called ‘honour’ based violence. They are the sole provider of the National Domestic Abuse helpline which receives more than 400 calls a day.

By kindly sponsoring us today you are helping to save and change the lives of thousands of women and children escaping domestic violence.

Thank you!
