Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my page....

Quite simply I’m running a marathon… In Brighton. In 13 weeks. And I have only just started training.  I’ve never been one to take the straightforward and simple route in life… just seems boring that way!  Anyone can run a marathon/another plea for sponsorship funds I hear you say, this is usually true, but not with the motivation I have…

You see, the only reason I set myself these ridiculous motivational challenges from time to time is because of my best friend Karen Siew Puddifoot.  Joined in union through the West Herts College intake of 1995, Kaz and I became immediate friends through our love of abstract and modern art, vintage clothing, midnight snacking and hitting Destiny nightclub in Watford hard in search of finding ‘the one’.  It never happened for either of us… at most, a free vodka shot.

Nonetheless,  my beautiful, talented, creative and artistic compadre would later leave the shores of Northwood and go on to graduate with the highest accolade from Wimbledon School of Art. Very proud friend moment (and so jealous of her remarkable talent for fine art, dammit!).  Art directing films such as Harry PotterThe Golden Compass & TV commercials for Sony and episodes ofThomas the Tank Engine, she was simply flying at the top of her artistic game.

To this day I’ve never really understood or fathomed why a higher being would take that away from her or want to come between our unique and precious bond in our years of youth and freedom…but they did.

Karen died on September 24th 2009, just 27 years old. My best friend, my confident, my partner in crime…the one person who “understood” me.

www.karensjourney.co.uk for those who are interested in the full story of how she and her brother and his best friend came to rest, one of which is still so hard to bear and unfathomable.

In summation, my training blog (https://regardezlechatpsycopathe.wordpress.com) serves for a little light relief on the marathon training circuit, because it is going to be intense (!), is a personal reminder of why I’m doing this (my best friends’ memory and her general awesomeness) and for you reading this… If you can’t donate money, donate your time. Come cheer me on in Brighton on April 14th. If you can’t donate time, please donate £ and help me meet my target. And if neither can be met, then please, please, please blog/text/email your recommendations for great songs to add to my iPod to get me round!!  Thank you all very much for taking the time to read and act on this… Gros Bisous CeCe x
