The Menopause Charity will bust myths, overcome ignorance, and make menopause symptoms history. We'll support women with fact-based menopause research and help them access the safest hormone replacement therapy. We'll help educate healthcare professionals and employers, and campaign worldwide.

Story

If you are a woman, have a wife/female partner, mother, sister or daughter the menopause will affect you at some point in your life.

I thought that because I had never had a hot flush or night sweat that the menopause had not impacted on me - I could not have been more wrong! I now know that I have osteoporosis (I had a bone density scan following an elbow fracture caused by a fall) - and that this was utterly preventable. This was almost certainly caused by a drop in oestrogen caused by the menopause. Had I accessed HRT several years ago this would almost certainly have been prevented - I have had the right diet, taken the right supplements and been doing the right exercise to prevent osteoporosis for years but have still developed it.

Women do not automatically receive the information they need to make decisions related to their long-term health - HRT can reduce the risk of osteoporosis, heart disease and dementia - or have easy access to the treatment they need for this. This needs to change and I am supporting The Menopause Charity in their essential work aimed at bringing about this change. Please support me in doing this.
