Personally, Alzheimer's and dementia is something which has had a huge part to play in my life. My grandfather, John, sadly suffered from dementia. This disease had a significant effect on his life, and has impacted the lives of many others. Having worked in Older Adults' services, I have also witnessed the huge impact that Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia has on many people and their families. Charities like Alzheimer's Research UK are fundraising to facilitate research into diagnosis and management of dementia and the associated symptoms. 

I recognise the immense pressure we are all under financially at the moment, however if you are able to spare a couple of quid to contribute to this worthy cause it would be much appreciated. In return, I will endure the 12k Total Warrior obstacle course on 2nd July during which I will apparently be electrocuted and covered in mud, as well as proving to myself that I'm not as strong or fit as I thought. Myself and my colleagues from the Community Mental Health Team, as well as some of our amazing third sector colleagues, are really keen to hit our fundraising target to help fund research to ultimately battle Alzheimer's - please help us if you can!

Both NHS community mental health team and third sector organizations; Community Links and Touchstone, have come together to fundraise for this amazing cause. We are pushing ourselves to the limit, both physically and mentally to complete the challenge of Total Warrior 12k. The challenge will consist off 25 obstacle courses, which involves a lot of mud, ice and fire!
