Bupa Great South Run 2010 · 24 October 2010 ·
It's that time of year again, when the evenings start drawing in and it rains a lot. That means only one thing.... it's time for the Great South Run again!
As has become the norm over the last few years, my brother and I take to the streets of Portsmouth to run the required 10 miles and, hopefully, raise a wad of cash for a deserving cause.
This time we are running in memory of our Dad, as it's 5 years this year since he lost his battle with cancer, so we've decided to run for Marie Curie Cancer Care, Team Daffodil.
The Marie Curie Nursing Service helps people who are approaching the end of their lives to remain at home if they wish to, through its nationwide network of Marie Curie Nurses who provide nursing care at home. They generally spend several hours at a time in a person’s home providing nursing care and emotional support, often overnight. Marie Curie has 2,000 nurses in the UK and last year they worked for 1,200,000 hours caring for terminally ill patients, including half of all cancer patients who die at home.
I hope you'll agree this is a very deserving cause and will dig deep and find a few quid to donate. Please remember, I'm cracking on a bit now and I am running 10 miles which, for someone who hadn't run anywhere in her life up until 4 years ago, isn't a bad effort.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
