A warm welcome to family, friends and strangers I've met along the way. Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
I am running London 2023 in support of The Lily Foundation, a mitochondrial disease (mito) charity. Mito is a devastating genetic disease affecting the body's energy production. It can cause any symptom in any organ in any age. and is frequently undiagnosed or misdiagnosed. There is currently no cure for mito.
I was inspired to support the Lily Foundation in 2018 when I read the story of a little girl local to me, Grace Connor, who tragically lost her short battle with mito aged only three years old. It struck a chord with me at the time as my own daughter Grace was a similar age.
I decided to enter the LM that year with the hope that one day I'd be able to support #teamgrace and the Lily Foundation and help to fund research for a cure for mito while supporting families dealing with the disease. I am so grateful to finally be on my marathon journey and to do this with the blessing of Grace's family. Moreover, April 23rd will be 5 years exactly since the day of Grace's passing - I am sure that she will be with us all the way!
All donations, no matter the size, are much appreciated. Even though I have a ballot place, I'm aware that those with a charity place are required to raise £2000 to partake, so I've set that as my target.
I look forward to updating you on my marathon journey over the coming months. I'd be grateful if you could share my link too:
