We’re Breast Cancer Now, the charity that’s steered by world-class research and powered by life-changing care. We’re here for anyone affected by breast cancer, the whole way through, providing support for today and hope for the future. By 2050, we believe everyone diagnosed with breast cancer will live – and be supported to live well. But we need to act now.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page to help me raise money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

I have 'created' a triple running challenge which will push me to my limits and help to support such a very important charity, which means a lot to me. Sadly breastcancer effects too many people and often there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to why them. Breakthrough Breast Cancer looks to find the cause, how to make earlier detections, diagnosis and to find treatments. The more research is done, the more lives that can be saved.

So what is this Triple Challenge? Well..................

I've set myself the challenge to take part in 3 difference races on 3 different days and if I complete them it will be the furthest distance I have run.

The 1st challenge is:

The North Face 100 Asian Series - Thailand

Date: Saturday February 4th at 6.30am

Distance: 10km, running with Geoff in his first race. We will start together and finish together.

Location : Samut Songkram, Thailand
Venue : Amphawa (Start - Finish at Kaew Cha Roen Temple)
Spectacularly picturesque is located around Samut Songkram, an area south - west of Bangkok with over 100 temples surrounded by small villages, floating river markets , rice paddies, palm plantations, and lush vegetation. Samut Songkram is a very popular running destination and is most notably famous for previously hosting the famous Temple Run. The course is flat and is compromised of 70% road and 30% trail.

Then 7 days later.......

2nd Challenge:

Standard Chartered Bangkok Marathon

Date: Sunday 12th February at 3.00am

Location: Bangkok

I will be running the 42km race, this will be my first full marathon. The race starts at 3am to avoid the heat, but this means you lose a night's sleep and adds to the challenge of fuelling your body pre-race. The race takes you round the streets of Bangkok as the sun comes up and the heat intensifies. Low temperature is 24 degrees C at the high 31 degrees C with a morning humidity of 78%, so this adds to the fun!

Geoff is running his second 10km race, starting at 6.15 am.

So we should finish around the same time, here's hoping!

The 3rd and final challenge is 14 days later:

The 1st Thailand International Half Marathon

Date: Sunday 26th February at 5.00am

Location: Rama 8 Bridge, Bangkok

The final challenge after the previous two races, then I think we may have a little rest!!

I have been training extremely hard and in very hot and humid conditions. I've been running 5 times a week and continuing with my pilates classes and strength training. I've learnt to get up a ridiculous hours, eat and then run.

I have had blistered feet, lost a few toe nails along the way, very aching limbs, grazes across my body from my clothing, had a snake crawl over my shoe, run along side a turtle (fortunately I over took him!), run with some particularly large geckos, breathed in the joyous fumes of Bangkok Traffic, run past some of the grimmest smells from sewage water, seen far too many dead animals, had many arguments with motorcycle taxi drivers, met some lovely Bangkok parks gardeners who have kept me going, run with some fantastic friends who have been a great support, run with Geoff and pushed Isabella in her stroller, been in awe of some amazing Thai runners and I have been rescued on many occassions by Tom when I've been too tired to get home. I have been told I 'stink and to shower' by Isabella and when I'm in my running gear she automatically brings my trainers to me.

We are determined to meet this challenge, Breakthrough Breastcancer is my motivation - Breast Cancer must be beaten.
