Story
From May 1st until May 10th Clarissa (6) will be cycling 10 miles a day to complete 100 miles in 10 days. You can follow Clarissa’s journey by visiting her Facebook page ClarissaGreenfield-charity work and more. We have spoken to Derbyshire police and this is within the current government guidelines and within her hour exercise.
Some background information Clarissa’s granny my mum took ill in 2015 with two brain aneurisms before this Granny was fun loving and very hands on, Clarissa was only 3 when Mum first had surgery but noticed Granny wasn’t herself or playing like she had been.
Clarissa’s first missions was to get love notes posted to Granny, on her mission she started herself from places they had been together with a note saying my love for you is that big it has reached and then where we were. This very quickly went viral and she has responses from Hong Kong, America, Africa and all over the world these were then made into a scrap book for Granny.
Following on from this an artist Cathrine Davis contacted us and asked if Clarissa wanted to design a picture for Granny, of course she wanted to and created the image attached of two elephants representing her and Granny, this image was printed on aprons, prints, mugs and pillows and then sold on the website and in the NHS hospital charity shop with all profits going straight back into the hospital charity.
Clarissa wanted to continue her missions on making people happy and last Easter donated 126 Easter Eggs to the teenage cancer trust unit at Birmingham Queen Elizabeth Hospital which is the hospital Granny is under.
At Christmas this year Clarissa hosted a charity Christmas market with 20 stalls. She vetted all the stalls herself and ensured all the stalls sold different products she greeted everyone who came into the market and raised £728 for the hospital.
After trying to convince her to take a break and Clarissa refusing this year she wanted to collect her Easter Eggs again but this time donate them to the staff as in her words they treated Granny so well and if all the added pressure she has seen on the news felt they needed a treat. Clarissa collected over 150 Easter Eggs this year and has donated them to Birmingham Queen Elizabeth Hospital Staff. Mike Hammond the Chief executive of the hospital charity collected them from our house to donate them to the staff to ensure we weren’t making a journey to the hospital at this time.
Clarissa has now started a new mission on creating keyrings for our local area to remind them to stay indoors and also as a smile for people at this difficult time. She has made 400 Pom Pom keyrings and delivered them, she has had some amazing responses from people in our area.
Clarissa is only 6 years old and tries very hard to ensure other people’s lives are improved in whatever way possible. Every day Clarissa is coming up with new ideas for ways to raise money and knowledge for people who are struggling.
