Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am raising money on behalf of Wood Green, The Animal Charity based in Godmanchester in Cambridgeshire for three reasons:
Firstly, for the work they do with animals that come into the shelter and the care and devotion they put into looking after them before finding a new forever home for them.
Secondly, for the community based work, where they work tirelessly and proactively to keep animals in a safe home environment, offering practical support to people who may be having trouble caring for their animals, through no fault of their own.
Thirdly, this page is in memory of a very dear friend and former veterinary nurse at the charity who was a brilliant role model to many trainee nurses throughout the years. Rachel 'Roy' Radwell was tragically killed in a head on collision with a dangerous driver in the very early hours of a November morning in 2018. She was travelling home after taking an animal to a emergency appointment at a local vets when the incident happened. Her death has caused so much trauma for her family, friends and colleagues, which I have seen first hand. Her death is a great loss to everyone who knew her and the world is a poorer place for her not being in it.
By running 100km event in the Lake District in June, I am putting myself through a couple of days of comparatively 'minor' discomfort to help raise vital funds for this amazing charity and to help keep Rachel's memory alive. So please help me by donating a little or a lot!
