SAVE THE DATE : 18 DECEMBER 2021 - I will be completing my #RUN2021 challenge at Huntingdon Park Run, starting at 9am, at Hinchingbrooke Park. Please join me either for the run, or afterwards for a mince pie and celebratory hot chocolate!
The km's over the last month have gone down really quickly and as of today (2/12/21) I only have 70km left to run. My body is still in tact, just. It's been cold, dark and for the past two weeks pretty windy and rainy, but I promised Jen I'd complete it, for her, and I fully intend to honour that commitment.
It'd be great to see some of you there. If you can't join me, how about chucking in a couple of extra quid instead ;-)
Much love this Christmas, Clarkey xx
October 2021 - Ten months into the challenge I have now completed 1665kms of the 2021 total. It’s been a slog and I’ve still got 356kms to run, but I’m ahead of where I need to be and my body is just about holding up! I’ve been fortunate to run some beautiful paths with fabulous scenery and I’ve been joined by wonderful people. My longest run yet (and probably ever again!) will be the Cambridge Half Marathon tomorrow (17/10). This is so far outside of my comfort zone, but I’m determined to complete it, and (as Jen told me) I’m stubborn enough to keep putting one foot in front of the other, until I’ve run all 2021km. For context, that’s 404 park runs or the equivalent of Brighton to Salzburg…and back!
Every km, #irunforJen xx

12/2/21 - Dearest supporters, it is with a heavy heart that I write to let you know that Jen passed away on Wednesday 10th Feb, with her family by her side. The world just got a little bit (actually a whole lot) duller. ☹️
Hunts Community Cancer Network have been, in Jen’s words, ‘amazing’. Please continue to donate to this amazing cause if you can. And anyone who wants to run a few km’s too, please share your efforts using #irunforJen, and/or #RUN2021.
Sending love out to you all at this saddest of times. Clarkey xx
** UPDATE** 1/2/21 - I am totally overwhelmed to have reached the donations target set. The level of generosity and support is amazing and motivates me every day to get out and scratch off a few more kilometres. (There are still plenty to run!)
Rather than amend the target, I would rather keep it as a reminder of the love to date. BUT, as sure as HCCN continue to do their work and continue to support Jen, I am continuing to collect as much as possible to support this fine cause. Please do donate if you can.
Follow my progress @clarkehl8 #RUN2021
12/1/21 - I began #RUN2021 on 1st January as a new years challenge for me. Now, it is so much more than that.
HCCN provide support and comfort through the toughest time to many special people. My special person that they have been there for, is Jen.
Every kilometre that I run, and every £ that I raise as a result, will be for Jen and the people at HCCN who have been by her side through her battle.
If you can, please donate a few pennies (or preferably pounds) to this most worthy of causes. If you can't, your love and best wishes will do.
P.S. 2021km in a year is just less than 40km per week! Not impossible but remember, I'm built for speed, I'm really not built for endurance so every kilometre will be hard earned! ;-)
Thanks!
Clarkey xx
