Claws Out

Claws Out · 1 August 2017
I founded Claws Out in 2015 after being led to believe that I was raising orphaned lion cubs to be released into the wild. I soon found out that in South Africa, 200 cub breeding parks are telling the same lie and in fact these lions will be sold into the canned hunting industry.
Canned hunting is where a captive bred, hand reared lion is released into a fenced enclosure, with no means of escape, so that a trophy hunter can come and kill them. Volunteers simply do not know the link between the two industries.
What started as a small online blog has snowballed - I've spoken in European Parliament, had magazine and newspaper articles published and now I've partnered with IAWPA and am their Lion Ambassador.
Claws Out and IAPWA are raising funds towards our campaign to roll out an educational programme across the UK. The funds raised will be used to develop educational materials as well as cover printing costs, before we begin visiting schools across the country. We have also begun planning an online documentary about the cub petting industry in South Africa and part of the funds raised will contribute towards filming and distribution costs.
