Story

The CLIC Sargent Godfathers have grown from humble beginnings in 1998 to become one of the most successful and recognisable teams on the increasingly popular rugby 7s circuit.

When former player Robbie Stuart lost his brave battle against leukaemia in 2008, aged only 28, it was decided that the best tribute to Robbie would be to continue his legacy by promoting his chosen charity CLIC Sargent.

CLIC Sargent is the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people, and their families. The charity provides clinical, practical, financial and emotional support to help them cope with cancer
and get the most out of life. They are there from diagnosis onwards and aim to help the whole family deal with the impact of cancer.
Now in our 18th year, we have grown into a highly successful outfit expanding year on year. The team have won tournaments across the UK and Europe, including four titles at Europe’s largest 10s tournament (Flanders 10s) and wins in Hamburg, Warsaw and Edinburgh.

In 2016, the team will once again be taking on the best teams in the UK and Europe at the biggest and best events, including the National Cup at the Bournemouth 7s, Europe’s largest 10s tournament in Flanders (Belgium). We will also attend local favourites, such
as the South West 7s in Bristol and the West Country 7s in Bath.
