Bangers4Ben 2018
Campaign by Ben Support For Life (RCN 297877)
Bangers4Ben is 5 Day event will see 50 teams buy a car worth no more than £750. There challenge is to drive across Europe.

Story

On the 5th October, our Business Development Manager, Jake Booth and Head of SEM, Steve Connor in their BMW 3 Series and Social Media Manager Joe and Director/Head of Web Ollie in their Mazda MX-5, will embark on a mammoth 5-day tour of Europe in aid of Automotive Industry charity Ben. The trip, spanning 5 countries, is to be completed in a car costing no more than £750!

Ben.org is an independent charity and dedicated partner to the automotive industry, providing support for life for its people and their family dependents, with a mission to make a positive difference to people’s lives.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the rally, in celebration, a very special route has been organised ending in a mystery location! Last year Ben raised a record breaking £59,000! However, we’re confident that this year will raise that bar even higher with your kind donations!

Make sure to follow us on Twitter, like us on Facebook and LinkedIn
to keep up to date with our cars, drivers and for some vlogs from the trip
itself!

Car #1

Steve Connor

Steve’s driving has been likened to that of Morgan Freeman’s in the film Driving Miss Daisy! Never one to rush, Steve is always ready to stop, often for obstacles that only he can see! His team reminisce in joy and a touch of terror, about the many trips they’ve shared with Steve, from emergency stops for imaginary fences, to last ditch dodges to avoid HGVs, Jake is sure to be kept on his toes with Mr Connor at the wheel!

(Edit) Steve wasn't happy with my initial write up, here's what he had to say "Hassan and James (Steve's SEO prodigies)  have only ever seen my sensible side, who speeds when they're not in a rush? My true Ayrton Senna comes out when I've got somewhere to be! Our fellow drivers will be able to draw their own conclusions, if they can keep up..."

Jake Booth

Jake is most definitely the yin to Steve’s yang. With cars in his heart and petrol in his veins, Booth is no stranger to speed. Boasting a plethora of high performance cars, including a Nissan 350z and an imported Toyota MR2, he’d rather forget about his previous stint with a diesel Jaguar estate… It was clear from his days learning to drive in a Subaru Impreza that he was destined for the track, he now has the perfect chance to race none other than the Stig! Unfazed by the Top Gear driver, Jake’s confident his trusty 3 Series will make mincemeat of the man in white!

Car #2

Ollie Moxham

Like Jake Booth, Ollie is happiest behind the wheel of his M140i or perched on his Triumph Scrambler. An exceptional history of cars including a Honda S2000 and BMW E30 325i, mean a Mazda MX-5 was the only logical choice for his ‘banger’! Ollie and fellow driver Lee chose their car based on its exceptional driving dynamics and cool styling; unfortunately, they failed to notice the thimble sized boot! Unfazed by his car's puny stature, Ollie is confident he can guide it around each circuit in record time thanks to his vast track day experience!

Joe Podmore

Joe and Ollie have a shared affinity for two wheels, it’s a shame the rules call for four wheels as they’d have more space with a bike and sidecar! It seems Poody is looking forward to the cramped conditions, if only to make for a better atmosphere when he plays his self-proclaimed ‘none stop bangers’.

When it comes to track driving, Poody has little experience when compared to his veteran driver Ollie, he does however believe he’s got a trick up his sleeve! Between work and his strict partying schedule, Joe has been clocking up the virtual hours on his beloved Forza 7; he’s certain this will give him an edge over his fellow racers!
