CMD is a group of severe progressive muscle wasting diseases. Struggle Against Muscular Dystrophy aims to raise vital funding which will be directed to key research projects with a view to bringing potential life enhancing drugs to this generation of sufferers. SAM is a zero cost charity.

Story

Muscular Dystrophy is a heartbreaking progressive muscle wasting disease which is 100% fatal. In its congenital form the disease leads to severe muscle wasting, causing children to become dependent on wheelchairs at a very early age. As the muscles continue to waste children become quadriplegic, they suffer from scoliosis and painful muscle contractures and eventually lose the ability to breathe and eat without assistance. There is currently no treatment and no cure. Longevity and quality of life are severely compromised.

Struggle Against Muscular Dystrophy is a zero cost charity - everyone involved gives their time, expertise, products and services for free. This means that every penny we raise can go directly towards funding research into Muscular Dystrophy with the aim of bringing us one step closer to an effective treatment for this devastating disease.
