Story

The Drugs don't work

Cancer totally tears your life apart, regardless if you are the patient or if it is someone you love is. You are thrown into a tsunami of emotions not just on the day you are given the news but throughout treatment. You need to deal with so much, bombarded with complex information needing to make multiple  tough decisions and as a patient feeling physically terrible. Really all you you want to do is roll up in a ball and hide in a corner. However you need to be on your A game as treatment needs to start as soon as possible, that will actually make things worse  before you have a chance of getting better.  That is why the drugs don't work by themselves, the role of Macmillan Cancer support during the whole cancer journey is vital, they really help you get on the plan and keep going.

Ultimately the drug didn't work for my son Connor as he lost his life to Cancer almost two years ago after a year of battling it with determination, courage and bravery. Throughout this time our Macmillan nurse was with us every single step, those days when we held onto hope as well as the days when our world fell apart. She provided not just clinical support but also emotional support, coming along side Connor and us, she helped navigate so many tough times, truly it felt like an Angel had been sent to us.

Macmillan aim to provide specialist health care, information and financial support to people affected by cancer. It also looks at the social, emotional and practical impact cancer can have, and campaigns for better cancer care.

It is our hope that many others will receive same level of support that we did thru cancer treatment and ultimately have better outcomes where they are helped while the drugs do their job.

I have personally covered all the costs of this ride so money raised will  go to make a real difference in people’s lives
