Story
Jordan Perks,
Memorial Motorcycle ride.
Ward 32 at Bristol Children’s Hospital
24 HOUR - John O'Groats to lands end
Sunday 15th July start, ending at Lands End morning of the 16th.
We all miss Jordan very much and the energy he had for his motorbikes and go-karts. He was one of the main driving forces behind the creation of the Old School riders club in his home town of Tetbury.
We are one year on and in memory to Jordan and to help raise funds for Ward 32 Bristol children’s Hospital (BCH) We are doing a sponsored memorial motorcycle ride from John O’Groats to Lands End all within 24 Hours. The riders will be myself, Cliff Perks Jordan’s dad, Neil Perks, Jordan’s big brother, Adrian Montague, (Uncle Mont) and long time family friend Dale Willcox. Bringing up the rear in our support vehicle will be Thomas Perks, Jordan’s brother, and rounding of our team, Barry Willcox, Dale’s father, both Thomas and Barry will be helping keep the bikes and riders working! We hope. The bike we are riding will consist of three Honda’s and one Suzuki, some from the late 1970's to early 80's
Ward 32 at Bristol Children’s Hospital was a constant presence in Jordan’s short life and continues to be a support for our family.
In the midst of our grief last year we felt it was necessary to show our thanks and appreciation to ward 32. With short notice and the support of the community we arranged a sponsored walk from Tetbury to Malmesbury to raise funds to the amount of £4,130 and held a small fun day for Jordan’s fellow class and school friends. It was a great success and the community raised a fantastic amount for the hospital.
On August 18 2012 we will be repeating the event.
We are hoping that with a little more planning time, this year, through raffle tickets and sponsored events such as this 24 hour bike ride we will raise a considerable amount for Jordan’s fund.
We will be setting of for the top of Scotland on Friday the 13 July and starting our 24 hour ride to Lands End on the Sunday morning, we are hoping to be standing at Lands End for Monday morning 09:00 hours.
We will have the Bikes and full information of this epic motorbike ride on display at this year’s Jordan’s fun day.
This year the event will take place at St Mary’s C of E Primary school, Tetbury with an emphasis of celebrating Jordan’s very full life, which included being an honourable member for the Royal Navy, and with the intention of inspiring his friends and peers to strive to achieve every little thing they wish to.
