Story

Welcome to Cliff Spooner's sponsorship page for The Royal National College for the Blind. I am pleased to report I have run this year's 25th anniversary of the Flora London Marathon on behalf of the RNC in 4 hours 53 minutes.

The RNC is based in my home town of Hereford. The college provides an invaluable service to blind and partially sighted people throughout the country. At the college I have been impressed with the way that the students of all ages are encouraged to make the most of their abilities, rather than dwelling on problems with their vision. The college is recognised nationally as a leading centre for the visually impaired, where the emphasis is on development and independence for the individual.

I am pleased and proud to support the RNC - a local resource with a national impact - by raising sponsorship for my marathon run, in order to maintain the college's high standards, and to build new facilities for the future.

Most of us take our sight for granted, but while we would all be frightened of losing any of our senses, we may be especially sensitive to becoming blind or partially sighted.

THANK YOU to everyone who has supported this effort to raise funds for the RNC. I have enjoyed the challenge and I look forward to seeing the funds go towards a very worthwhile cause. Thank you once more - Cliff Spooner PS Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Royal National College For The Blind will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. Many thanks for your support.
