Story
Hey, thanks for visiting our site!!!
We are Louise Hawkins and Clare Eggar, two final year uni students who have set ourselves the challenge of climbing Mt Kilimanjaro in Oct 2007. We are raising money for our two local hospices - The Nottinghamshire Hospice and Hayward House Cancer Care Trust. They provide invaluable palliative care for patients and support for their families; we feel that these are two very worthwhile causes. They both rely heavily on donations and, having seen first hand how valued the care is, we know how much these donations are needed. We therefore need you to help us help them!
We are facing a tough challenge... Mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa, is 5895m and is the world's tallest free-standing mountain. The entire trip will last for 12 days; on day three we will walk through the rainforest to get to the base of Kilimanjaro, and we will climb until day nine when we (hopefully!) reach the summit, where the air is 50% thinner than at sea level. At the base, temperatures will be around 30 degrees, and at the summit will be around -25 degrees. On the mountain we will be sleeping in tents with no showers or toilet facilities until day 10!
We are funding the trip ourselves, at a cost of £1900 each. We aim to raise money to help fund our trip and also a substantial amount of sponsorship for the charities. **ALL MONEY DONATED ON THIS SITE WILL GO DIRECTLY TO THE CHARITIES** - our fundraising activities will be separate.
Thank you for visiting our donation page. Please dig deep and sponsor us online.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: The Nottinghamshire Hospice and Haywood House Cancer Care Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor us now!
Many thanks for your support.
