Story
Hello, my name is Nicola Szabo and I’m fundraising with a group of friends and family for tinnitus research.
We had originally planned to climb Snowdon in June 2020 to raise money for the British Tinnitus Association but unfortunately due to Covid-19, this had to be postponed. Despite some changes to the team due to personal/health reasons, we’re excited to say that a group of us will be completing the challenge on 11 September, along with the Fundraising Officer from the British Tinnitus Association. We’ll also be dedicating extra time during summer to complete training walks ahead of the challenge.
This is a charity close to mine and my families hearts. Craig is my cousin and after him suffering for many many years with Chronic Tinnitus which he could bare no longer this lead to severe depression and in turn he made the tragic decision to end his life. It is unbearable to think that this condition and its affects can end so tragically. Craig tried many coping methods, white noise machines and often took himself off on his bike into the hills to try and escape these horrendous sounds in his head. This has affected Craigs family and friends immensely and if in someway we can try and raise some money to help with the research into a cure then this will go some way to hopefully saving another person having to endure this torture. Craigs passion was drumming and he was the drummer in the Inspiral Carpets, a very talented and beautiful person who was loved by all.
We’re doing this challenge as we want to raise awareness of tinnitus and support the research into curing this debilitating illness.
You can be a part of this by donating and sharing our fundraising page today - thank you from all of our team!
