Story
So we made it!! Toughest week making it up the mountain but such an amazing experience so please do dig deep if you’ve got anything you can give, see the reason why below.
In January, Nadine and I are heading off to Tanzania to attempt to climb to the highest point on the great continent of Africa!
Climbing Kilimanjaro has been on my bucket list for a long time and I thought it'd be something pretty special to do for my 30th and Nadine happily agreed to come along with me on the adventure!
So, at the end of January 2020, we are heading over to Tanzania to make the summit attempt.
In the planning of the trek we thought it would be great to raise some money for a good cause and we hope you all agree. We've decided to raise money for the excellent charity that is the Dream Big Ghana Foundation - www.dreambigghana.org.uk
Dream Big Ghana NGO operates in the coastal villages of Dzita-Agbledomi in the Keta District of Ghana. The NGO delivers programmes related to education, sports development, health and sanitation.
The area where the foundation operates on the coast is about an hour away from my Dad's retirement project, his Mango Farm! This was one of the key reasons for selecting the charity. We've stayed at the lodge run by the foundation, Meet Me There, on numerous occasions and is a place that we will continue to visit in years to come. On our visits, we will be able to see how things are progressing and see directly where the money goes and how it helps, which is a huge bonus for us!
In speaking with Dougal, the CEO of the foundation in Ghana, we were talking through what different values would achieve in terms of projects the money can go towards and that's how we came to the target figure.
We have set ourselves a big target of £3,000, this would be enough money to build 4 EcoSanitation toilets which would provide clean, hygenic toilets for over 100 people in one of the local communities.
So please dig deep and donate whatever you can to help us reach the grand total of £3,000 for this excellent cause! We really appreciate all and any donations.
Thank you!
Jamie and Nadine
