Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am raising mony for the charity DebRA, that supports all those who's lives are affected by Epidermolysis Bullosa. Our daughter Zoe suffered from the genetic condition Junctional Epidermolysis Bullosa. Shortly after we lost her, I wrote a brief description of her short life.
This is the last paragraph of that account.
On Sunday 8 March we had a phone call from the hospital to say
that Zoe had “Taken a turn for the worse” and that we should go down. We jumped
in the car and drove to Morriston cursing everyone who got in our way. As
we walked into the Children’s Unit the Ward Sister, Claire, was waiting for us and I think we both knew why. She simply said “I’m sorry
my darlings” (Everybody was “my darlings” to Claire) and we realized it was all
over. Zoe had died about 10 minutes before they phoned us but, quite naturally,
they hadn’t told us straight out on the phone. We went to see Zoe and
found her laying in her cot, at peace, and still warm to the touch. Claire
offered to pick her up and give her to us for a last cuddle but neither of us
could do it. I didn’t feel I could cuddle her now when I couldn’t cuddle
her when she was alive.
