Story
I am no cyclist. I had no bike. I have agreed to ride 600km in 5 days from the Northern Wall to the South Coast of England. I have had to source a bike in lockdown, which was nigh on impossible.....
Why?
My friend and colleague, James Cook came up with the crazy idea and is honouring a promise he made to his late father, Humphrey, which is to ride from Hadrian’s Wall to the Hamble where he kept his beloved yacht. Sadly, Humphrey died from a brain tumour. James’s twin sister was diagnosed with an anaplastic astrocytoma in 2012 and survives today, which is nothing short of a miracle. Plus, we lost a much loved colleague at work, Aimee Stoffel, from a brain tumour last year.
Therefore, we are looking to raise much needed funds for the Brain Tumour Charity. The Charity is at the forefront of the fight to defeat brain cancer and helps the lives of people with a brain tumour and their families.
This is a massive physical challenge! 600km in 5 days. 2500m elevation and 135km on day one ALONE!! The thought of it is horrific, yet we will tough it out for the right reasons. A group of us from work are completing the ride together.
Any support you can offer will be gratefully received.
Thank you!
