Story

Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page.

Update. Thanks to all your inspirational donations I jumped on Wednesday, 9 June.13,000 feet is quite high!!.

As much as turning 50 is a time for celebration, it is also a time for reflection, so I am using my 50th year to raise funds for the "Fusiliers Aid Society". Although it is many years since I wore the "Hackle", for some time I have been involved with the Regimental charity which helps injured Fusiliers and their bereaved families.

In keeping with the military theme and to ensure I am suitably challenged, I will be doing a sky dive with the Red Devils in June. Fortunately I am being joined by old friends, Mark Phelps (ex 3RRF) and James Goodwin, who are jumping for their own charities.

The need for help has never been greater and will continue long after we have left Afghanistan.Since the onset of hostilities in the Middle East, the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers have suffered over 40 seriously injured and 19 killed of whom 7 lost their lives in the Regiment's last deployment to Afghanistan in late 2009. It is not just todays Fusilers that the "Aid Society" helps.Support continues to be given to those injured and incapacitated from past conflicts such as WW11, Korea and Northern Ireland. Many Fusiliers have benefited from the support of their Regimental Aid Society and it is important that this support can continue long into the future.Thank you for taking the time to read this and for your support.
