Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.  Firefighter Clive Baillie aged 54yrs and 45yr old Watch Manager Kyle Campbell are in training to take on the 3 Peaks Challenge-Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis-with a difference. Not only are they climbing the 3 highest mountains in Wales, England and Scotland respectively, they will cycle the 450 miles between them and they aim to do this in 3 days!

For Clive from Grantham, it is a way of giving back to the disability charity which has supported his 14yr old son Jake who has classic autism/severe learning difficulties and global development delay resulting in challenging behaviours. Newlife has provided a £2899.00 safe sleeping environment for Jake, he does not settle well and has no awareness of danger so without it he would roam around at night and put himself at risk.

Clive said, "this piece of equipment is just great. Jake has never slept through the night but now we know that when he wakes up he will be safe. The number of meltdowns has reduced too-he can't hurt himself because of the soft structure of the bed. Now, when things get too much for him Jake will take himself off to his safe space."

Newlife is the UK's largest charity provider of specialist equipment for children with disabilities and terminal illness and has supported 125 families in Lincolnshire, at a cost of £139,744. Every penny the pair raise for Newlife will be used to provide specialist equipment for children in the county.

This is Clive and Kyle's 3rd charity challenge together having done Land's End to John O'Groats and Coast to Coast MTB challenge from Whitehaven to Robin Hood's Bay.

This challenge would not be possible without the help and support of fellow firefighter's.

Clive and Kyle state that they are determined to complete the challenge in just 3 days so the support team are vital to it's success.

Update Paragraph....Fundraising is now underway at local superstores in Lincolnshire.  The bag packing & collecting at the stores will go to Newlife Disabled Children's Charity & the Fire Brigade's Benevolent Fund split equally.  This fundraising page being solely for Newlife.  After collecting at these stores so far we have a fantastic monies raised of £1700.00.  (not including this page).

We are also completing a 200 mile practice ride on 6th June 2017, where we will cycle to every wholetime fire station in Lincolnshire, collecting sponsorship money on route.  Completing the 200 mile practice ride will be Sean Taylor (ride idea originator), Kyle Campbell, Craig Tuck and Clive Baillie.

Our aim is £10,000 to be split to both charities.  Training and fundraising can also be seen on Grantham twitter page @granthamfire.
