A walk to remember · 7 October 2012 ·

We've been providing tailored and holistic care to those in need in the Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset area for over 40 years. At your home or ours, we provide care without prejudice, regardless of condition, religion, beliefs or age - and always with your best interests at heart.

Story

As his local Councillor (Horfield), I had the pleasure of first meeting Jerry and the Silvester family in December 2010.

Over time supporting Jerry professionally, I had the priviledge of becoming closer to his family. It dawns on us that knew him - how very, very much he gives...

This humble and ultimately considerate, great man gave far more than he took. Everywhere I saw him - He changed people.

The care he received from St Peter's Hospice was outstanding in its compassion, dedication and effectiveness. It was always an absolute pleasure to visit. To stay hours longer than expected because it was right,  be it day or night.  To leave and bring him home yet know care was always waiting should it be needed again...

Jerry fought incredibly hard to stay and to make the differences he knew best how to make.  He left us on December 28th 2011. His 'Farewell Party' was the stuff of Legends.

One week before his wife Michelle had been confirmed with the same diagnoses - I thank all I believe in and his great strength that Michelle's treatment has proved successful and she and their two, much loved young sons will hold tight to all he taught.

I am not a walker !

My feet were somewhat wrecked in my campaigning a few years ago - but it was without hesitation that when I saw this opportunity to fundraise to continue the great care at 'St P's' that I am more than happy to do so.  I really do hope you can help to support me and we too together can triumph in Jerry's name and make differences -as he did.

From the day care centre, the nursing, the respite, the end of the telephone, the carer's room, the chapel, the gardens to the music therapy, precious CD to wristbands - to that head clearing cuppa - All funded for and developed or delivered with the utmost care - I will forever be grateful for Jerry's care givers and wish the very same for anyone else in need of this service.

Jerry truly is a remarkable gentleman - In all he gave and all we remember.  St Peter's Hospice gave us all more precious memories than we might have had - I will walk for Jerry.

Please do help me to support in giving a little back of what was given.

''Thank you'' xx
