The Charlotte Miller Art Project (CMAP) is a nationally and internationally recognized project that works with street involved children and at risk children in Guayaquil, Ecuador. To date, hundreds of children and young people from the poorest neighborhoods have been given the opportunity to participate in valuable arts-based educational activities.
CMAP is a project, which is run within the JUCONI Ecuador program, which is supported by the International Children's Trust (ICT). JUCONI (Junto con los ninos - together with the children) provides specialized educational and therapeutic services to street-working children and their families.
JUCONI's educational methodology is internationally recognized. It provides highly personalized services, for the child and family based upon personalised education and therapeutic programs which address key areas of development: physical, emotional, cognitive and social.
CMAP gives JUCONI participants the chance to express themselves through arts based activity, which develops their self-esteem -and confidence and the ability to communicate with others, complimenting JUNCONI's methodology. CMAP creates a welcoming, warm environment in which the young people can express and explore themselves through the powerful voice of visual language.
The children's artwork is used within their local communities to advocate an understanding of the issues affecting their lives. Their artwork has also been exhibited in the International Gallery of Children's art in London and the Museum of Children's Art in New York, raising awareness amongst international audiences.
All donations will be transferred to CMAP to able the running of arts based workshops in Ecuador that will benefit the children in the ICT's JUCONI program.
