DSI/TWC Annual Walk and Martial Arts Seminar in Support of Coniston Mountain Rescue · 16 June 2019

Coniston Mountain Rescue Team members are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to recover climbers from precipitous crags, reunite lost walkers with their friends and families, and ensure injured and sick casualties are safely delivered into vital hospital care.

Story

This is the 6th annual DSI UK KJA/TWC Seminar in support of Coniston Mountain Rescue, we raise funds for CMRT via a sponsored walk and a charity martial arts seminar, over the last 5 we have raised over £10000 for Mountain Rescue in England. CMRT also rescue people on the 3 peaks challenge who are raising money for other charities. So why not help these good people out.

We will be stopping in Coniston Village on Friday and Saturday night.

On Saturday we will take the Gondola Steam Ferry from Coniston to Lake Bank, we will then start the walk taking in Grizedale forest and a high point of Carron crag. gaining not much more than 300mrt on a Roughly 13km walk. This walk follows clearly marked paths on a traverse of the surrounding hills of Coniston water as we head from south to north back to the start.| Viv Anderson the ex England, Arsenal and Man Utd Legend will be joining us on the walk.

On Sunday we will be holding a charity martial arts seminar at Torver Village Hall, further details at;

The team is on-call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, we are all volunteers and funded only by public donations. The Coniston team was founded in 1947 and was the first of its kind in Britain.Team call outs have changed greatly over the years. Originally the most common call out was for fallen climbers or people lost in the hills. These days the role of the Mountain rescuer has expanded, although the service remains voluntary with team members giving up their time should the need arise. Teams are trained in many disciplines and are expected
