Story

Five (fool)hardy lawyers are taking part in the annual Ride to Cure Diabetes event on Friday 17 May. The aim is to cycle as far as possible on a static bike in 8 minutes. The individual riding farthest is crowned "King/Queen of the Mountains" and the longest combined effort by a team will be the overall winners.

8 minutes sounds short - I'm sure you're weekly HIIT class is far longer and harder than that - but make no mistake that 8 minutes going "all out" on a bike in the middle of Paternoster Square in front of colleagues, clients, friends and strangers is sufficient to cause you to finish the effort collapsed in a heap, gasping for air with legs like jelly.

8 minutes without oxygen is enough to cause severe brain damage, so this team is taking serious risks in the name of charity. Please give generously and come along on the day to support. It's only 8 minutes of your day afterall...

There are currently 400,000 people in the UK with type 1 diabetes, over 29,000 of them are children.Let that sink in.JDRF is committed to eradicating type 1 diabetes and its effects for everyone in the UK with type 1, and at risk of developing it. JDRF fund world-class research approved and administered by our international research programme to cure, treat and prevent type 1 diabetes, make sure research moves forward and treatments are delivered as fast as possible and give support and a voice to people with type 1 and their families.
