The London Landmarks Half Marathon is an exciting, closed-road run taking you past some of the city's famous attractions and beautiful views. With a flat route and fantastic atmosphere, it's the perfect half marathon.

Story

On April 4, 2027, I’ll be taking on the London Landmarks Half Marathon. While 13.1 miles is a massive physical challenge, the real drive behind every single step comes from two of the most important people in my life: my husband, Paul, and my best friend, David.

Diabetes isn't just a number on a chart or a condition that simply "goes away" with a daily pill or injection. It is a relentless, everyday battle, and I watch the people I love fight it constantly despite their absolute best efforts.

Watching the Daily Battle

My Husband, Paul: Paul lives with Type 2 diabetes. Even with strict management and medication, medicine alone doesn't fully resolve the complex ways diabetes impacts the body. It causes frustrating, painful secondary complications—like severe eczema and recurrent bouts of thrush—that drastically affect his daily comfort and quality of life.

My Best Friend, David: David has been managing Type 1 diabetes since he was just 11 years old. We are the exact same age—just 48—but the long-term toll of the condition is already showing. Despite doing everything right, his blood sugar isn't always within his control, and he is already experiencing devastating complications, including eye deterioration.

Why I Need Your Help

Seeing the people closest to me do everything right and still have to suffer through these exhausting complications breaks my heart. But it also makes me angry, and it makes me want to act.

I am laced up and training because I want to raise vital funds for Diabetes UK.

The money raised goes directly into groundbreaking research to develop better treatments, prevent life-altering complications, and ultimately find a cure. I want to help fund a future where medication does what it’s supposed to do perfectly, where everyday comfort isn't stolen by side effects, and where a diagnosis at age 11 doesn't mean facing vision loss before you're 50.

I’m putting in the miles so that Paul, David, and millions of others can live healthier, better lives. If you are able to donate even a small amount, it would mean the world to me—and even more to the people I'm running for.

Thank you so much for your support!
