In June, I am taking part in “Trek The Alps for Barnados”.

This will involve me trekking across the Alps, over 3 days in 3 countries across 3 peaks (France, Italy & Switzerland). The route encircles the Mont Blanc Massif and is considered one of the world’s classic long-distance walking trails and will take me up to an altitude of 2537m at its highest.

As this is the year I’m turning 30 I felt it would be a great idea to celebrate it differently by giving something back and Barnardos is an ideal charity to do this. I have had an upbringing which has given me opportunities to live a comfortable life, and this charity helps children and families who are considerably less fortunate than me, providing counselling for children who have been exploited, support for children in and leaving care and specialist mental health services.

This is something that is a long way outside my comfort zone and will give me an opportunity to work as part of a team facing a particularly difficult challenge.
