Story

187 mile, 24-hour “Coast 2 Coast 2021” Challenge:  St Bees to Robin Hood’s Bay

Wolverhampton Grammar School has run an annual Coast 2 Coast challenge for over 20 years.  It involves a group of Year 10 students (12 in total this year) running the 187 miles from St Bees to Robin Hood’s Bay as a tag team in just 24-hours.  This year’s Coast 2 Coast challenge will start at 7am on Saturday 29th May from St Bees, with the aim of arriving in Robin Hood’s Bay by 7am on Sunday 30th May 2021.

In preparation for their challenge, the students undertake 16 weeks of extreme training to prepare them. Members of staff support the students during their training and the challenge itself. Parents also support the students from along the route.

This year’s team is made up as follows:

Harry Brookes, Jaiya Daley, Bella Evans, Jack Goodridge, Leah Gopal, Tom Hathaway Freddie Hodgetts, Sahara Kandola, Dhiren Lalli, Isabelle Mason, Max Thompson and Ava Wainwright

Along with the sense of personal achievement for the students in

completing this challenge, each year the event raises funds for a charity, which is chosen by the students taking part that year.

For 2021, the students have decided to fund raise for:  The Haven Wolverhampton.  A charity which supports women and dependent
children who are vulnerable to domestic violence, homelessness and abuse.
