We are a new cancer research lab, started by Dr Chris Staples and based in the North West Cancer Research Institute in Bangor, North Wales. We study how cells repair damage to our genomic DNA, which over time can cause cancer.

NWCR funding has been crucial to the genesis of our laboratory, and many others in Liverpool, Bangor and Lancaster, and we are very grateful for their support. 

While we are isolating at home during CoViD-19, we are joining the Pass The Baton for Cancer initiative started by our friends at Cardiff University (link below) to raise vital funds for NWCR, so that they can continue their amazing role in stimulating cancer research in the North West. We all know someone affected by cancer, or have lost a loved one to this terrible disease. Every year, thanks to continued funding for cancer research, outcomes for many cancer sufferers are gradually improving. 

Therefore, between the 14th June and 14th July, we are going to remotely traverse the entire 870 mile length of the Wales Coastal Path - be it by walking, running or cycling! This will be a huge challenge for those of us whose muscles have atrophied by being constantly glued to the lab bench, or the office computer!
