Group Coast to Coast Cycle for Goldenhar UK!

Group Cycle Coast to Coast · 27 July 2018
Goldenhar Syndrome is an ‘umbrella’ term for a wide range of bone abnormalities affecting the face and sometimes the vertebrae. Our children often have a number of facial differences and hearing problems. During their childhoods, children with the syndrome can have a number of surgeries to help with hearing and jaw function, to reconstruct ears and create symmetry in the face.
We are friends and family of children born with this rare condition. Affected families have found a lot of joy in being part of the Goldenhar UK group. The group hold a family day every year where the children are growing up together and sharing their surgery stories and how they feel about their life experiences. Many stay in the group into adulthood. If it wasn't for the group, our children might never have met another child going through what they are going through. Parents also rely on the support of the other parents and adults with Goldenhars. Without fundraising, the charity can't provide these brilliant and essential events.
Together, us nine, of varying ability and hat wearing style, will cycle a grueling 140 miles, over the Pennines from Whitehaven to Tynemouth (what was I thinking?).
There may be tears, there may be many a sore bottom, but mostly there will joy at doing something for this amazing charity.
Please give what you can so our children and others can grow up knowing they are not alone!
