Story

This is a story about how I introduced two friends who fell in love and went on a road trip. Tragically at the back end of that trip one of them had a seizure which turned out to be caused by aggressive and terminal brain cancer. He is just turning 46 years old and unfortunately is living proof that life is too short! For many years he has taken the mickey out of my fitness and general 'dad bod', so I've decided to get fit and learn to box and have now been coerced into the ring for an unlicensed white collar boxing match. For those who know me, this is unusual behaviour on all fronts, I have a smart mouth and undoubtedly have provoked the odd fights in my life before, but I have never actually had a fight, and not since school have I really enjoyed regular exercise.

Anyway, previously when I raised money for charity I climbed Kili and enjoyed a lovely holiday...this time I promise there will have much less enjoyment attached...On 26th November at some point in the evening, I will be repeatedly punched in the face by someone I don't know for 3x 2 minute rounds all while dancing around in an enclosed space trying not to cry. I have quit alcohol in the run up, and I'm descending toward the top end of the oxymoronic "light heavyweight" category...if you'd like to come and watch, please let me know, but if you're happy to donate to a great charity as well, please click on the links below.

The Brain Tumour Charity is the world's leading brain tumour charity and the largest dedicated funder of research into brain tumours globally. Committed to saving and improving lives, they are moving further, faster to help every single person affected by a brain tumour. They are set on finding new treatments, offering the highest level of support and driving urgent change. And they are doing it right now. Because they understand, and tragically now so do I, that when someone you love and respect, is diagnosed with a brain tumour a cure really can't wait.

To C, you are a rock and to see you step up and support our friend through this collective nightmare...well as I said at your wedding: you will receive the gift of the greatest group of friends you could ever wish for! x
