Edinburgh Marathon · 27 May 2017 to 28 May 2017 ·

Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the only charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

Rather foolishly we have signed up to run the Edinburgh Marathon - all 26.2 miles of it! In order to ensure we actually do this and to remain motivated we have decided to use it as an excuse to raise money for the Stroke Association.

We both work as occupational therapists within community stroke teams and as such are aware of the devastating affects that stroke can have an individuals and their loved ones. There are over 1.2 million stroke survivors in the UK, half of whom have a disability and over a third of whom are dependent on others. Anyone can have a stroke at any age and we have worked with individuals between 7 and 103 years old to help regain their independence and quality of life.

Within our roles we work closely with the Stroke Association and see first hand the amazing work they do to support individuals to re-build their lives after a stroke. Please help us to support the growing number of individuals who suffer a stroke every day, and provide us with the motivation to continue until we complete the full 26.2 miles! Thanks, Becky & Helen xx
