Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I've never run a marathon before, but on 19th May I will be running the Asics Windermere Marathon to raise funds for the Brathay Trust and to achieve a personal goal that I repeatedly told myself I'd never do. Well, I've changed my mind and have now repeatedly told myself I will do it. Please help keep me motivated with your donations for Brathay.
I'm not Mo Farah, I'm a 50 year old who ran a couple of steady trail half marathons in 2018. My aim is to get round Windermere, enjoy myself and raise a heap of cash for Brathay. Any sort of time is acceptable, but under four and a half hours is a reasonably ambitious personal target. Between January and race day I need to squeeze in some 400 miles of training. To set the scene I only did 310 miles in the entirety of 2018.
Brathay is an excellent charity with a mission to improve the life chances of children, young people and families by inspiring them to engage positively in their communities. This is really difficult work and the positive outcomes they achieve for both individuals and society as a whole are testament to their approach, their care and their long experience.
I've set a modest fundraising target, which I hope to smash with your kind and generous assistance. Early donations will help motivate me through the cold early morning training runs in January and February, and encourage me to push on when the going gets even tougher.
