Story
I'm raising money for Springhill Hospice by taking part in the Sofa to Summit challenge. Please donate and help to spread the word to get as many people as possible supporting them.
I've always been a keen walker and cyclist and a gym member but last June I found I had to have a double heart bypass and a new aorta valve. The operation went well and after completing a programme of cardiac rehab exercise sessions I was given a clean bill of health.
One year on, despite the Coronavirus lockdown, I was determined to keep up with my daily exercise and since the rules have let us travel further afield I've been able to get as far as the Lake District. I've enjoyed being able to revisit the gym now that they've reopened and I walk most if not every day, getting out too on my bike.
I usually hold a few events to raise money for the Hospice during the year but that's not possible while groups can't get together so I've decided to join the Hospice's new challenge Sofa to Summit. It fits exactly with what I'm doing, getting out for regular exercise. I'll be having my 75th birthday in December and I want to make sure I stay fit and healthy.
